The Columbus East softball field underwent massive renovations in the offseason that included a new location, turf and lights, and now the school has been rewarded for the efforts.

The Olympians will be hosting a six-team Class 4A sectional that includes Columbus North in late May in an announcement at last month’s IHSAA minutes meeting that released spring sports sectional locations. Hauser will travel to Milan for a 2A sectional that includes seven schools.

Should East or North win the sectional, it would be a regional host. After hosting a regional last year, Hauser would be on the road for its contest should it advance out of the sectional.

The semistate locations remained unchanged.

In baseball, Shelbyville will host a six-team 4A sectional that includes North and East. Hauser will travel to South Ripley in an eight-team 2A sectional. The regional and semistate hosts remained the same, and schools will be assigned a location following the sectional and regional rounds.

In girls track and field, the sectional assignment for East, North and Hauser remains at Franklin. However, the regional site has moved from Franklin to Shelbyville. North still will host the boys sectional, and Greenfield-Central again will host the boys regional.

Girls tennis will follow the same path as the boys. The sectional will be at North. However, the regional still is to be determined between Seymour and North. An announcement will come at a later date. That regional will feed into the Center Grove Semistate.

The postseason sites for boys golf remain at Greensburg for the sectional and Providence (Champions Pointe) for the regional.
