Olympians sweep New Albany

The Columbus East swimmers swept a dual meet with New Albany on Saturday, winning the boys contest 120-59 and the girls meet 113-66.

Judah Nickoll won the 200-yard freestyle (1 minutes, 49.64 seconds) and 100 backstroke (57.13), and Cavan Stilson took the 50 freestyle (22.96) and 100 freestyle (52.49) to lead the Olympian boys. Other winners were Todd Hundley in the 200 individual medley (2:08.87), Gavin Day in the diving competition (264.55), Misha Machavariani in the 100 butterfly (55.37), Mason Bean in the 500 freestyle (6:24.96) and Ethan Hall in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.03). East also swept the 200 medley (1:45.71), 200 freestyle (1:43.05) and 400 freestyle (3:29.26) relays.

For the girls, Cassidy Furnish won the 200 freestyle (2:16.79) and 500 freestyle (6:07.88), and Connelly Furnish took the 50 freestyle (27.16) and 100 butterfly (1:06.38). Kira VanValkenburg captured the 200 IM (2:35.02), Gabbie Meier won the diving (229.65), Abby Proffitt took the 100 freestyle (1:01.24), Ali Trueblood captured the 100 breaststroke (1:18.09) and the Olympians swept the 200 medley (2:07.37), 200 freestyle (1:55.82) and 200 freestyle (4:11.44) relays.
