Carter Kent // Jennings County junior basketball player

Kent led the Panthers with 30 points in Friday’s 69-61 win against Brownstown Central and again in Saturday’s 73-66 loss at Center Grove. He broke the school’s career 3-point record in the process.

His performance last week: “We beat Brownstown Central, and nobody thought we were going to beat them, so it was good to get one of the better teams in the state. I thought we played pretty well and grew as a team, as well, against two of the best teams in the state.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I try to take a 10- or 20-minute before the game.”

Favorite drink: “Water”

Favorite food: “Steak and chicken”

Favorite class: “German”

Favorite sports team: “Sacramento Kings”

Favorite athlete: “De’Arron Fox”

Role model: “My parents (Rob and Taryn Kent)”

Best advice: “Just work hard and give 110 percent effort in everything you do.”

Athletics goal: “To play college basketball.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Germany, because my German teacher (Ben Jacquess) makes in interesting.”

Avery Johnson

Johnson led the Bull Dogs with 21 points and grabbed four rebounds Saturday in a 64-55 win against Bloomington South.

Her performance last week: “I feel like I played with confidence, and I wanted to just do my part and help the team win.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Most of the time, I just listen to music and talk and joke around with my teammates in the locker room.”

Favorite drink: “Root beer”

Favorite food: “Tacos”

Favorite class: “English”

Favorite sports team: “Purdue”

Favorite athlete: “LeBron James”

Role model: “My dad (Brad Johnson)”

Best advice: “To never give up and push through adversity.’’
