SHELBYVILLE — South Decatur jumped out to a 25-9 halftime lead Tuesday and went on to post a 50-21 girls basketball win against Edinburgh in the opening round of the Southwestern (Shelby) Sectional.
Makayla Somers led the Cougars (14-10) with 18 points. Kiley Best scored nine, and Paige McQueen added eight.
Kyah Streeval led the Lancers (3-21) with eight points.
South Decatur will face Jac-Cen-Del in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday.
