4A No. 5 Panthers overcome slow start, oust Owls

FLOYDS KNOBS — Class 4A No. 5 Jennings County began what it hopes will be a long tournament run Tuesday with a 59-38 girls basketball win against Seymour in the opening round of the Floyd Central Sectional.

The Panthers (22-3) trailed 14-12 early in the second quarter when they went on a 15-0 run to take control.

Juliann Woodard led Jennings with 28 points. Mollie Ernstes scored 14, and Alivia Elmore added 12.

The Panthers will play Jeffersonville in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday.
