Columbus North girls basketball senior Kaitlin White was named First-Team Academic All-State by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
North senior Olivia Johnson; Columbus East seniors Jenna Guse, Madelyn Poe and Caroline Frost and Jennings County seniors Alivia Elmore, Alexis Carson and Cheyeanna Leslie were named honorable mention.
Panther pair named HBCA All-Region
Jennings County seniors Juliann Woodard and Alivia Elmore have been named to the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association All-Region 3 team.
The HBCA teams feature 10 seniors from each of four regions in the southern half of the state. From there, 10 players will be selected from the All-Regions 1 and 2 teams and 10 from the All-Regions 3 and 4 teams to play in the annual HBCA East-West All-Star Game.
Kilps makes All-Sectional team
Hauser senior Bella Kilps has been named to the All-Sectional team from the North Decatur Sectional.
Trinity Lutheran senior Liza Froedge, junior Laura Roeder and freshman Marly Warren were named to the All-Sectional team after leading the Cougars to the New Washington Sectional title.
Hauser senior to have signing ceremony
Hauser senior Kenze Bostic will have a signing ceremony in the school’s auditorium at 4 p.m. Feb. 16.
Bostic will be continuing her volleyball career at IU Columbus.
Boys hoops games rescheduled
Columbus North’s boys basketball game at Terre Haute South that was scheduled for Dec. 20 has been postponed to Feb. 24. Also, the game at Southport that was scheduled for Jan. 26 has been postponed to Tuesday. The JV for both games will begin at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
Hauser’s boys basketball home game against Waldron that was scheduled for Jan. 19 has been postponed to Feb. 20. The JV will begin at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
Also, Edinburgh’s boys basketball home game against Southwestern (Shelby) that was scheduled for Jan. 19 has been postponed to Feb. 19. The JV will begin at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
Boys sectional pairings later this month
The boys basketball sectional is only a few weeks away. Teams will know the path to the sectional crowns when the pairings show takes place at 5 p.m. Feb. 18.
The pairings show will be available via livestream at ihsaatv.org.
East Central will host a Class 4A sectional that includes Columbus North and Columbus East. South Ripley will host a Class 2A sectional that includes Hauser.
The sectional games will be held Feb. 27 through Mar. 2.
