DUNBAR, W.Va. — IU Columbus baseball picked up its fourth win of the season Saturday, a 6-4 victory against IU South Bend before falling to Rio Grande 8-1.
Lucas Slager’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth broke a 4-4 tie with IU South Bend. Slager finished 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Jackson Gilcrest allowed one run and two hits over the final 2.1 innings to pick up the win in relief of Drew Bradley.
The Crimson Pride (4-8) matched Rio Grande with 11 hits, but did not score until the sixth inning. Slager went 3 for 3, and Ethan Guire went 2 for 4. Starter Gavin Haltom took the loss.
IUC will visit Taylor on Tuesday.
