Traffic stop leads to 2 drug arrests

Columbus police arrested two people on multiple drug charges after officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle overnight. 

At about 12:20 a.m. Monday morning, CPD officers observed a vehicle without a license plate traveling north on Central Avenue near Seventh Street. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Devin C. Kinman, 33, 11085 W. Georgetown Road, Columbus, and his passenger, Emma L. Sipes, 24, of Trafalgar.

Officers determined that Kinman’s driver’s license was suspended and he had a local warrant for his arrest. Kinman was placed under arrest and during a search of his clothing, officers located methamphetamine.

During a search of the vehicle, the officers located three-quarters of a pound of marijuana, along with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the floorboard on the passenger side of the vehicle where Sipes was seated. She also was placed under arrest.

Kinman and Sipes were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.

According to jail records, Kinman was held without bond on charges of possession of methamphetamine with a prior conviction, possession of a synthetic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended with a prior conviction and a Bartholomew County warrant.

Sipes was held on $63,500 bond on preliminary charges of dealing in marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
