Several Panthers, Trinity thrower advance to regional

SEYMOUR — Jennings County finished second in Wednesday’s Seymour Sectional.

Seymour won the meet with 130 points to 107 for the Panthers and 83 for Brownstown Central. The sectional had been postponed from Tuesday because of weather.

Rachael Manning won the pole vault (9 feet) and the 200 meters (26.76 seconds) and finished second in the 100 (13.18) to lead several Jennings athletes advancing to Tuesday’s Bloomington North Regional with top-three finishes.

Kristen Ponder took second in the pole vault (8-0), Trinity Burke was second in the 100 hurdles (17.49) and the Panthers were second in the 4×100 relay (52.51). Placing third were Aylah Belding in the high jump (5-1), Cheyeanna Leslie in the discus (98-7) and Haley Vogel in the 3,200 (13:00.22). Ilene Hifo also will receive a call-back to regional after finishing sixth in the 100 (13.69).

Trinity Lutheran finished eighth with 30 points. Bailey Bonde won the shot put (32-5 1/2) and finished second in the discus (99-8).
