Visitors Center announces new hire, promotions

The Columbus Area Visitors Center has made a new hire and promoted several staff members.

Katherine “Kate” Todd joins the Visitors Center as the sports and leisure sales manager. Todd is responsible for the organization’s group sales program which includes sports, group leisure and meeting markets. In addition to conducting external sales efforts, she will collaborate with partners to develop itineraries to create custom experiences for groups visiting Bartholomew County.

Todd is the current Softball Coaches Association of Indiana executive director. She has worked with Indiana USSSA softball for nearly 15 years, and worked previously with CERA Park, a key partner in Bartholomew County’s sports tourism and outdoor recreation initiatives.

Three center staff members have been promoted.

Erin Hawkins, who joined the organization in 2012 as director of marketing, has been promoted to the Visitor Center’s director of strategic partnerships and cmmunications. Hawkins will be working across Bartholomew County to align the organization’s forthcoming Destination Master Plan with the goals and strengths of partners to enhance the visitor experience. She also oversees the organization’s external messaging.

Aurora Harvey was promoted to marketing manager. Her primary duties include content creation for the center’s owned media channels including social media, e-newsletter communications, blog, and the website columbus.in.us. She works with individual partners to help promote the businesses, attractions and events that make Bartholomew County a visitor destination.

Sami Harvey, (no relation to Aurora Harvey) was promoted to guest services manager. Her primary responsibilities include having face-to-face interactions with visitors to provide information and assistance, managing the Visitors Center’s gift shop, and overseeing venue rentals for the organization.

The Visitors Centers’ leadership team additionally includes Operations Manager Robin Gray and Tour Program Manager Lisa Westmark. The Visitors Center also employs part time guest services staff, shuttle drivers and manages dozens of volunteer tour guides.
