Columbus North recent graduate Luke Revell has one final game to showcase his football talents.
That’s because Revell will be participating in the Indiana Football Coaches Association North-South All-Star Classic at 7 p.m. Friday at Decatur Central.
“I’m so blessed to have been selected. I honestly couldn’t believe it when I heard that I’ve been nominated for it. I couldn’t even believe that,” Revell said. “I was in shock when I was told that I was going to be playing in it. I’m grateful to have been named to be playing in the game. I’m super excited for it. I’ve been buzzing about it all summer.”
Revell began his career with the Bull Dogs playing on the defensive line. He moved to offensive line his senior year when the team needed help at the position. He will play on the offensive line for Friday’s game, but said he will be playing on the defensive line in college.

Revell won’t be done with football after Friday because he committed to continue his career at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. He plans to major in a business related field, most likely economics with a minor in public policy. He added that he might go into law instead of business and maybe get into politics at some point far down the line.
One of the main reasons Revell decided on Carleton was its passion and genuine care for its own players.
“Honestly, a really big thing for me, I usually get a genuine feel from coaches is if they care about their players and they really care about me,” Revell said. “They showed me tons of love through all the facets of recruiting. I had a home visit from my defensive line coach, who was coaching at a school 10 hours away from me. That’s incredible. He came to Columbus, Indiana, to sit down and have lunch with me one day.”
Earlier this year, Revell was one of 14 seniors to receive the Scholar Athlete Award by the Central Indiana Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
Revell is excited for the opportunity to play in the All-Star Classic Friday and go back to the closest thing to live football.
“The biggest adjustment in getting prepared for football season is finally being able to hit someone. There are very few guys who have the opportunity to hit a body in the offseason, and that’s the biggest difference,” Revell said. “There’s nothing compared to playing live football, and even though I’m not at the position I’ll be playing at in college, it’s the opportunity to play live football against people that will give an enormous boost to me during fall camp because no one else has done it in eight months.”
