Robert “Bob” Smith

Robert “Bob” Smith, 76, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Norton Audubon in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on November 25, 1947, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to the late Lowry Anderson Smith and Mildred Coleta (Webber) Smith. Bob graduated in the last graduating class from Lexington High School in the class of 1965. On October 9, 1982, Bob married the love of his life, Pat, of 41 years. He dedicated years of service to Cummins, before retiring in 2002. Bob found solace in the great outdoors, spending his time gardening, hunting, and fishing. His passion for nature reflected in his past volunteer work at the Lexington Fire Department. Bob was a member of the NRA, always advocating for the great outdoors and the freedom to enjoy it. He treasured moments spent watching his son and grandsons play baseball. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lowry Smith, Dean Smith, and Charlie Smith; and two sisters, Donna Cox and Margaret Warren. In addition to his wife, Pat, Bob is survived by daughter, Tisha (Don Hounshell) McNeely of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sons, Chris (Malina) Jeffries of Scottsburg, Indiana and Brandon (Chasity) Smith of Lexington, Indiana; three sisters, Mary (Tom) Gorman, Dorothy Horine (Lee Campbell), and Mildred Thomas; two brothers, Ben Smith and Dale (Margie) Smith; seven grandchildren, Hunter McNeely, Marly McNeely, Trenton (Brooke) Jeffries, Cameron Jeffries, Lauren Jeffries, Eli and Easton Smith; one great grandchild, Raelynn Jeffries; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and on Thursday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. Burial will follow at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Indiana following services at the church.
