About $3,500 in profits from the Bartholomew County 4-H antique tractor pull were donated to the family of Kristie Wessel, a Columbus woman undergoing cancer treatment at a Texas hospital. Several tractor-pull winners also signed over their prize money to the former 10-year 4-H member.

Daniel Lawler, a 1999 Columbus East High School graduate, won third place in the national Vocational Industrial Clubs of America Skills USA Championship in Kansas City. Lawler advanced to the national contest after placing first in the state VICA contest in related technical math.

Quinco Consulting Center at 5075 Lincoln Park Drive was awarded a grant totaling $164,556 from the National Institute of Mental Health for continued research and operation of its automated psychology laboratory.
