Friends of city council president Dascal Bunch attended a fish fry at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds, which raised $3,662, surpassing its goal of $2,000 to help pay for medication Bunch needed after a kidney transplant. The kidney was donated by Bunch’s 26-year-old son, Jordan, a pastor from Cincinnati.

IUPUC assistant professor of sociology Jay Howard was included in “Hard Rockers, Holy Rollers,” a feature story in the July issue of Life magazine. A resident of Taylorsville, Howard was a former Christian radio disk jockey and co-authored a book titled “Apostles of Rock: The Splintered World of Contemporary Christian Music.”

Columbus’ John Warner won an abbreviated 20-lap feature at the Columbus 25th Street Raceway, a half-mile dirt track. Warner edged second-place Gene Petro and won $300 for the victory.
