New Life Church began holding worship services in its new location at 51 N. Brooks St. to accommodate for its growing congregation.

The Fiction Writers Critique Group had been meeting in the same room at the Bartholomew County Public Library for several years, and members claimed group participation was better than advice from an editor. Members took turns listening to each other, then discussed what needed to be reworked.

The Republic held its annual Pet Parade at Donner Park, which included pets of all kinds. One such pet was Janie Hancher’s pet raccoon, Rascal, which she had found in her family’s barn as a cub and raised.
