South Decatur wins in 4 sets

KNIGHTSTOWN — South Decatur overcame a second-set setback to claim a 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 25-7 volleyball win Monday at Knightstown.

Aniston Bostic recorded 15 kills, three blocks and three aces; and Makayla Somers had 32 assists and three aces to lead the Cougars (4-1). Taylor Somers had three blocks, and Lydia Witkepmer notched 16 digs.

Also for South Decatur, Zsophia Sharp recorded 12 kills, two blocks, three assists, seven digs and an ace. Makayla Somers tallied seven kills, two blocks and 15 digs; Paige McQueen added 14 digs and Elizabeth Bennett served one ace.

The Cougars had opened the season on Saturday by going 3-1 at the Southwestern (Hanover) Round Robin. They beat Switzerland County 25-14, 25-18 and New Washington 25-15, 25-18 before falling to Borden 25-22, 14-25, 15-10 and beating South Ripley 25-22, 25-19..

Makayla Somers recorded a combined 58 assists and six aces, Sharp pounded 25 kills, Bostic had 12 blocks and Witkemper notched 28 digs.
