Crusaders compete in Illinois

ARTHUR, Ill. — Columbus Christian volleyball won only one set in the Arthur (Illinois) Classic Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Crusaders fell to Arthur Christian 25-11, 25-9 and Westlake 25-14, 25-15. Columbus Christian dropped three one-set matches to Faith Christian 25-15, Christian Life 25-18 and Quentin Road 25-23 on Saturday before falling to Homeschool Christian 25-20, 25-19 and Christian Liberty 25-19, 23-25, 15-17 in bracket play.

Mara Nickerson led the Crusaders (2-5) with 35 digs and five aces. Bella Frederickson pounded 25 kills, Abby Dora recorded 15 assists, Madyson Murray had one solo block and Emma Rice notched 35 digs.

Also for Columbus Christian, Madyson Murray tallied 13 kills, and Nickerson added seven kills and six assists. Frederickson had two assist blocks, and Paige Harden contributed 28 digs and three aces. Yana Foster pounded seven kills, Emma Sewell added two assists and Dora and Madyson Murray each served one ace.
