South Decatur wins tourney, tops Milan

The South Decatur volleyball team won the Union (Modoc) Tournament on Saturday.

GREENSBURG — South Decaur volleyball followed up its win in Saturday’s Union (Modoc) Tournament with a 28-26, 25-18, 25-14 wiu Tuesday against Milan.

Aniston Bostic recorded 10 kills and five blocks, and Zsophia Sharp had 16 digs and two aces to lead the Cougars (9-1). Makayla Somers notched 28 assists.

Also for South Decatur, Sharp pounded nine kills, and Taylor Somers added seven kills and two blocks. Paige McQueen tallied 10 digs, and Lydia Witkemper added eight digs.

The Cougars were coming off a pair of straight-set wins on Saturday. They beat Anderson Prep Academy 25-8, 25-7 and Union 25-16, 25-7.

Taylor Somers led South Decatur with 13 kills and four blocks. Makayla Somers recorded 28 assists, Sharp and Witkemper each notched nine digs and Bostic served seven aces.

Also for the Cougars, Sharp tallied 10 kills and two assists, and Bostic added seven kills. Taylor Somers recorded three assists, Makayla Somers had eight digs and five aces, and McQueen and Elizabeth Bennett each served five aces.
