Cummins Inc. received the 2014 Robert W. Campbell Award from the National Safety Council at the 2014 National Safety Council Congress and Expo in San Diego. The award was presented to Cummins Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger by Jeff Woodbury, chairman of the National Safety Council’s board of directors.
1999
David A. Doup received the 1999 Rural Service Award from Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, and Stanley and Linda Smock were chosen for the Q.G. Noblitt Natural Resources Conservation Award. Doup and the Smocks accepted the awards during the Rural Urban Dinner at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Parker Sams was promoted to news editor and Charlotte Sellers was promoted to regional editor of The Republic. Sams was previously area editor and Sellers was previously a copy editor for The Republic.
