Margaret Loretta Holley-Crossland

Margaret Loretta (Houchens) Holley-Crossland, 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at her residence.

Born August 16, 1939, in Glasgow, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Hayden Houchens and Lizzie (Richey) Brandenson. She married her first husband, Clifton Holley on March 21, 1954; he preceded her in death, and she married her second husband, Alan Crossland on April 1, 1984, in Columbus; he preceded her in death on June 26, 1993.

Margaret was a machine operator for 35 years with Cummins Engine Company in Columbus retiring in 2011. She was a former member of the Hartsville Baptist Church in Hartsville. Margaret enjoyed fishing, crafts, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include her sons, Anthony (Dela) Holley of Elizabethtown and , Roger (Doris) Holley of Columbus; sister, Doris Houchens of Cape Jeraldo, Missouri; grandchildren, Anthony (Katy Martin) Holley Jr,, Amanda Holley, Katie Holley, Patrick Kasey (Katina) Holley, David (Laura) Holley, Lisa Green, Dennis (Rachael) Dykes and Amy (David) Hazelwood; great-grandchildren, Anthony III, Kathleen, Dallas, Cayle, Cason, Autumn, Luna, Kaden, Izabella, Alexandra, Kamden, Eric, Kata, Dilan and Finan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Clifton Holley; second husband, Alan Crossland; daughter, Pryntha “Penny” Dykes; brother, George Houchens; and Ruth Parker and Ethlean Adams.

The funeral service for Margaret will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Bob Lay officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Waymansville.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Margaret for expenses or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
