It is the final tuneup week for both the Columbus North and Columbus East girls golf teams as sectional play takes place on Monday.

It was the Bull Dogs that won over the Olympians 180-210 Tuesday night at Harrison Lake Country Club.

“I’m happy with the win, and were just trying to get momentum and try to get better and get ready for Monday,” North coach Scott Seavers said.

Erin Hopkins led the way for the Bull Dogs by firing a even-par 36 to win medalist honors. Teams played the back nine of the course Tuesday.

“I had a lot of confidence today,” Hopkins said. “Overall, it was a really good round. I had a lot of good putts and chips that definitely helped, and it was a really solid day.”

Lindsey Hartwell shot a 43 for the Bull Dogs. Kara Buntin carded a 49, Ana Pavlov had a 52, Caroline Crawford finished with a 57, Harper Andresen had a 60, Sophia Willis added a 69 and Pia Mantooth carded a 70.

Grace LaSell led the Olympians with a 49. Abby King finished with a 52, Amaylie Walsh carded a 53, Allison Sharpe had a 56, Sophia Begley shot 57, Sofia Perez added a 66 and Kolbi Stephenson finished with a 68.

The sectional championship will be held Monday at Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington. Both North and East saw a glimpse of the course in the Bloomington North Invitational on Saturday.

“The girls are gradually getting better, but we’ve still got some young players, and we are also losing three seniors,” East coach LaDonna VanDeventer said.
