Veronica Cooney, a loving individual known for her courageous, humorous, and fearless soul, passed away on September 14, 2024. Born on February 24, 1956 in Columbus, Indiana. Veronica lived a life filled with tremendous passion.
On October 24, 1981, Veronica married Stephen Cooney in Connersville, Indiana, where they began their adventures raising three children.
Veronica earned her degree as a paralegal and then became an executive chef, finding her true God-given talent by reminding us that you just don’t feed your guests’ bodies; you feed their souls.
Veronica was predeceased by her parents Donald Edward Johnson and Agnes Alice Johnson.
Her siblings survive her: Rose Johnson, Angela (Steve) Schroer, Virginia (Steve)Schrougham, Marita(Gary) Burton &Rhonda(Don) Fowler, her children: Chrisandra (Carl) Rhodes Schwartz, Robert (Rob) Rhodes &Aliceyn Cooney, her grandchildren: Marie (Ryan) Schwartz Hoelscher, Andrew Schwartz, Victoria Schwartz, Cady Webb, Adam Schwartz, Grace Cooney, Harley Thayer, Braije Rhodes &Easton England-Cooney, her great-grandchildren: Ariel, Melodi, Adella, Grayson, Zoelle,&Lily. Her companion, Roscoe.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be shared when the family finalizes plans for the event.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to Second Helpings: Indianapolis Hunger Relief Program. Most importantly please remember to hug someone a little tighter and longer.
Veronica lived her life without fear and strength of what was ahead of her. She would seek out those who felt defeated and give them strength by teaching them the gift of forgiveness and resilience. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and reached her final resting place and has the peace she deserves. Our family would like to thank everyone for the love and support you have given; it is a blessing.
