Crothersville schools evacuated after suspect in school threat taken into custody

JACKSON COUNTY — Indiana State Police said there is a heavy police presence in Crothersville Schools Wednesday morning due to a school threat being received and an individual believed to be responsible for the threat has been taken into custody.
The school buildings have been evacuated as a precaution while the buildings are cleared by law enforcement, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Indiana State Police spokesman.
Students are being sent home for the remainder of the day.
No further information is being released at this time.
The Crothersville Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from Indiana State Police investigators. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Excise Police have also assisted with the evacuation of the buildings.
