COLUMBUS
Ronnie Allen Lucas, 63, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Ronnie was born in Columbus, November 26, 1960, the loving son of the late Omer Allen Lucas and Rosemary Brown Lucas Thompson of Columbus. Ronnie married Theresa Marie Dearborn Wirth December 22, 1998; she survives.
For 10 years, Ronnie served in the United States Navy; he was honorably discharged.
He was an over the road truck driver for many years and he also was employed at NTN Driveshaft Inc. Ronnie will be remembered as someone who enjoyed tinkering and making things and someone that could fix almost anything. Ronnie was so proud of his black 2023 Ford Ranger pickup truck and he loved his dog, Giselle.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of nearly 26 years, Theresa Wirth; mother and stepfather, Rosemary and Reverend Robert Thompson of Columbus; daughter, Barbara (Walter) Elliott of Indianapolis; son, Jason (Shawn) Wirth of Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren. Ronnie was very excited about his first great-grandson arriving in December 2024.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Omer Allen Lucas and his infant sister, Peggy Sue Lucas on September 13, 1963.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street: Pastor Keith Waggoner and Pastor Monte Stetler will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ronnie will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
