Southside, CSA-Lincoln, Parkside claim Elementary Cross-Country titles

Southside swept the fifth-and-sixth-grade boys and girls races, CSA-Lincoln took the third-and-fourth-grade boys race and Parkside captured the third-and-fourth-grade girls race in Saturday’s BCSC Elementary Cross-Country Championships.

In the fifth-and-sixth-grade boys meet, Southside scored 46 points to 70 for Parkside, 89 for Richards and 91 for CSA-Lincoln. Braxton Minnett led Southside with a fifth-place finish in 5 minutes, 41.94 seconds for one mile. CSA-Fodrea’s Frank Wooten won the race in 5:17.48, followed by Richards’ Cayden Long (5:32.39), Mt. Healthy’s Souma Halvorsen (5:32.58) and CSA-Lincoln’s Eli Henry (5:40.15).

Southside’s fifth-and-sixth-grade girls scored 49 points to 67 for runner-up Parkside and 72 for third-place CSA Lincoln. Katie Mangas led Southside with a sixth-place finish in 6:37.62. Parkside’s Sophia Eaton won the race in 6:21.41, followed by CSA-Fodrea’s Kaitty Gonzalez (6:25.58), Richards’ Lillyan Voisard (6:27.35), CSA-Fodrea’s Violet Ortega (6:28.52) and Parkside’s Aizah Warsi (6:32.27).

CSA-Lincoln won the third-and-fourth-grade boys race with 35 points to 66 for Southside, 68 for Parkside and 71 for Clifty Creek. Will Wyant led CSA-Lincoln with a second-place finish in 5:49.85. Clifty Creek’s Sebastian Knight won the race in 5:45.66, followed by Wyant, CSA-Lincoln’s Warner Fisher (5:49.89), Parkside’s Nathaniel Dismore (5:52.04) and Southside’s Chad Pendleton (5:56.19).

Parkside’s third-and-fourth-grade girls scored 47 points to 60 for CSA-Lincoln, 96 for Southside and 98 for CSA-Fodrea. Audrey Virotso led Parkside with a sixth-place finish in 7:03.96. Schmitt’s Marbella (Sarahi) Madrid Montoya won the race in 6:09.60, followed by Rockcreek’s MacKenzie Garner (6:29.37), CSA-Lincoln’s Harlowe Hayden (6:42.29), Mt. Healthy’s Lena Halvorsen (6:43.92) and Rockcreek’s Kinsey Works (7:00.97).
