BLOOMINGTON — Erin Hopkins won medalist honors, and Columbus North finished third as a team in Monday’s Bloomington North girls golf sectional to claim the final team-qualifying spot to Saturday’s Franklin Regional.

Martinsville won the sectional with a 354 at Cascades. Bloomington South slipped past the Bull Dogs 362-365 for the runner-up spot.

Hopkins fired a 4-over-par 75 to take medalist honors.

“I kind of had a slow start, but when I got my first birdie, that helped my confidence a lot,” Hopkins said. “There were a few strokes here and there that I could have cleaned up. But I got medalist, so I can’t be too upset about it.

Lindsey Hartwell carded an 83 for the Bull Dogs. Kara Buntin added a 99, Harper Andresen shot 108 and Ana Pavlov had a 110.

“We shot 10 shots better than our season average,” North coach Scott Seaver said. “We were only 11 strokes out of first, so I’m not disappointed at all. I’m happy to move on, and I’m happy for Erin to be medalist.”

Grace LaSell

Meanwhile, Columbus East finished fifth with a 401, the same score as fourth-place Edgewood, but with a higher fifth score. Although the Olympians were one spot away from advancing as a team, senior Grace LaSell made it as an individual after shooting an 87.

Abby King carded an 89 for East. Allison Sharpe added a 101, Sophia Begley shot 114 and Amaylie Walsh had a 124.

Lilly VanNess

Brown County’s Lilly VanNess qualified for regional as an individual for the second consecutive year after leading the Eagles with a 79. Chloe Poling carded a 99. Katie Johnson added a 111, Ava Sanders shot 122 and Caitlynn Lookebill had a 132. Brown County finished sixth as a team with a 411.

Hauser finished 10th with a 525. Cheyanne Moody led the Jets with a 123, while Abigayle Trotter added a 129, Bekah Sessions shot 133 and Lydia Taylor had a 140.

Edinburgh had three individuals, one short of the number needed to score as a team. Macie Blandford led the Lancers with a 94, while Kaydra Peters added a 132 and Sophia Pace had a 135.
