Bill R. Miller, our cherished husband, father, and grandfather passed from this life on September 21, 2024, at the age of 75 in Lake County, FL.

Born July 16, 1949, in Whitesburg, KY to Maleda Jean Miller Gibson, adopted and raised by his grandparents Ernest and Hattie Miller, whom all preceded him in death. Bill was a former resident of Columbus, IN before retiring to Florida.

Bill dedicated his life to his family, finding pleasure in spending time with his beloved wife of 51 years, Connie L Miller, and their children and grandchildren.

Bill was a man of immense wisdom, that built a legacy of love, guidance, strength, and support that shines on through his family. He had an uncanny dad joke for just the right moment, and always ready for an adventure of fishing, boating, golfing, camping, cruising, cooking up a feast, and creating all these moments in time leaving us a lifetime of memories.

Bill graduated from Northern IL University with a BS in Engineering and received his Masters of Adult Education at Southern IL University. Bill had an inspiring 23 year Navy career as a Senior Chief Petty Officer sharing the world with his family and serving 3 tours to Vietnam, earning 3 bronze stars, and various other honors throughout his extensive career. Bill’s next career was a Safety and Environmental Engineering Director of NTN Driveshaft for 15 years, then joined his wife in her Construction business building homes all over Southern Indiana and ended his career as a real estate broker with ReMax Realty, earning “Rookie of the Year” to start things off in Bill Miller fashion, before later retiring to Florida.

Bill is survived by his wife, Connie Dowden Miller; daughters, Gretchan (Tom) Hashimoto of Danville IL, and Natosha Miller of Lake County FL; granddaughters, Amanda Hashimoto(Sam Thomas) of Washington DC, and Megan Hashimoto of Chicago, IL; along with their adopted grandchildren Dalton and Anna Miller of Lake County, FL, and Sarah Miller of Indianapolis, IN; siblings, Sharon Meredith, Jim Miller, Jackie Gibson, Lloyd Gibson Jr, Ernie Gibson, Wallace Miller, and Earnestine Havron; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by siblings, Eddie Dean Miller, Victor Miller, Lawrence Miller, Ottis Miller, and Juanita Elkins.

“I know you’re by my side. In laughter and in sorrow. In sunshine and in rain. I know you’re watching over me. Until we meet again”. We love that you were shared with us. Forever in our hearts.??

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Steve Yeaton officiating.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest at the Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery with military honors presented by the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Unit and the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
