The all-ages event will feature free activities in celebration of the community foundation’s commitment to building a better community and an opportunity for the public to learn about the impact of its work and how their support can make a difference. DEPOLARIZING WITHIN, 9 a.m. to noon, Oct. 12, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2651 California St., Columbus. Braver Angels, a national nonpartisan nonprofit providing tools for depolarizing our communities, will host this three-hour public in-person workshop, followed by lunch and respectful conversation, teaching participants to look at their own attitudes toward the political “other” and develop strategies for engaging in politics without demonizing the other side. BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, 524 Third St., Columbus. BCHS hosts two permanent exhibits that share the history and heritage of Bartholomew County. Through early November, featuring “Out of the Wardrobe: The Clothing of Bartholomew County’s Past,” a curated collection of nearly 70 local outfits spanning 160 years. Learn about our county through interactive, hands-on exhibits that include a map table, notable people, county timeline, Then and Now, Did You Know, early industrialists and videos of Reeves steam engines. The historical society also hosts rotating exhibits throughout the year featuring items from their extensive collection. Admission is free with a donation suggested.
