College sports notebook: Barnett leads Lipscomb; Stohr, Russell run in Missouri

Mackenzie Barnett led Lipscomb with a 42nd-place finish Friday, leading the Bisons to a 15th-place team finish in Wisconsin’s Nuttycombe Invitational.

Barnett, a senior from Columbus North, ran 20 minutes, 53.0 seconds for 6K (3.8 miles).

Lipscomb’s Andy Stohr, a senior from North, finished 24th in the men’s 8K open race in Missouri’s Gans Creek Classic. He ran 24:53.1 for five miles.

Kentucky’s Will Russell, a sophomore from North, ran a personal-best 25:10.5 to finish 175th in the men’s 8K invite at Gans Creek. He was the No. 10 runner for the Wildcats, who took fifth as a team.

Gilleys notch digs, aces for Sycamores

TERRE HAUTE — Chloe Gilley, a freshman from Columbus East, recorded seven digs, one assist and one ace Friday in Indiana State’s three-set Missouri Valley Conference loss to UIC. Cadence Gilley, a junior from East, added two digs.

On Saturday, Cadence Gilley notched 10 digs and an ace in a three-set MVC loss to Valparaiso. Chloe Gilley added nine digs and an ace for the Sycamores (3-11, 0-2).

Bennett helps Marian to split

INDIANAPOLIS — Sarah Bennett led Marian with four blocks and added four kills and two digs Wednesday in Marian’s four-set Crossroads League loss to Indiana Wesleyan.

Bennett, a junior from Columbus North, also led the Sycamores (15-3, 6-2) with four blocks and had two kills and one ace in Saturday’s three-set win against Goshen.

Clark leads Bethany in digs, aces

Andie Clark led Bethany (West Virginia) with 18 digs and had one kill and two assists Tuesday in a three-set loss to Geneva.

Clark, a junior from Hauser, led the Bison with 13 digs and two aces and added two assists in Tuesday’s four-set loss at La Roche.

Clark led Bethany (7-11) with a career-high 25 digs and three aces and had one kill and one assist in Thursday’s five-set loss to Fransiscan.
