Bartholomew County

Playdate — 11:30 a.m. to noon, Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Children ages 1-5 and their caregiver can drop in to play at the library during this unstructured social time. We will have activities and toys to build large motor and fine motor muscles.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 1444 — 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St., Columbus. Weigh-in at 11:30 a.m., meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Must be a member of Mill Race Center. Call Karen Burbrink at 812-371-9616.

Skill Builders — 1:30 to 2:15 and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Have fun crafting and socializing. This month, we will be making a fall Luminary. Email Sandy Allman at [email protected] to register.

A Journey into the Hidden World of Tropical Bats — 2 to 3 p.m., online. Join us in kicking off October as we welcome three Smithsonian-affiliated scientists to teach us about the remarkable world of tropical bats.

Archives Walk-in Wednesday — 2 to 7 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Drop in anytime to visit the Archives of BCPL. See some of their awesome collections of library history and architectural records.

Hope Family Craft — 3 to 4:30 p.m., Hope Branch Library, 635 Harrison St., Hope. Join Shelly in repurposing a used paperback book into a festive Fall owl. All supplies provided.

Teen Watch-It Wednesday — 3:30 to 5 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Watch assorted monster movies this month, in honor of the Mill Race Monster’s 50th anniversary. Oct. 2’s movie is “King Kong (1933).”

Kids’ Art Studio — 4 to 5 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Join library staff and unleash your creativity. Library staff will provide all the supplies you need. Please dress to get messy. This month, we will be creating dot pumpkin art in the style of Yayoi Kusama.

Bartholomew County Democratic Party Dinner — 6:30 p.m., Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds, 750 W. County Road 200S, Columbus, guest speaker, Terry Goodin, $20, students admitted free.
