Emma Lou Byrne

Emma Lou (Clifton) Byrne was born on September 26th, 1930, in Erlanger, Kentucky to Vernon Lee and Mae Jane Clifton. She passed away September 28th, 2024, 29 years to the day after her husband Rodger Byrne passed.

Emma was employed for 34.9 years at Delco Remy. She retired on 10/31/1986 and moved to Bonita Springs, Florida, the next day. They moved back to Anderson, Indiana, after five years.

She graduated from Anderson High School in 1948 where she was involved in GAA (Girls Athletic Association) where her team won the State Championship in basketball. Her loyalties were tested when her five children all attended Madison Heights High School and were Pirates. Emma and her husband were very active in the MHHS Band Boosters and helped create the MHHS Gril’s Basketball Boosters.

Emma is survived by her children, Connie Eldridge, Debbie Williams (David Renner), Rodger Byrne, Mike Bryne, and Beckie Jones. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Rodger Byrne, parents, Vernon Lee and Mae Jane Cliffton; sister, Lois Jean Seybert; brothers Donald and Vernon Clifton; son-in law, Stephen Eldrige; and grandson Shane Byrne.

A visitation will be held on Saturday October 5, 2024, at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services Anderson, 504 W 9th St. Anderson, IN 46016 from 12pm to 3pm with a funeral service beginning at 3pm.
