Luis Ceballos // Columbus East senior soccer player

Ceballos netted a hat trick with three goals Saturday to lead the Olympians to a 5-0 win at Jeffersonville to win the outright Hoosier Hills Conference title.

His performance last week: “I was very happy with my performance personally and overall the way the team performed in general. I feel like the way we played shows how much passion we had and led us to a great win.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually like to wake up, listen to music, take a cold shower and just think of the way I want to perform at the best of my ability during the match.”

Favorite drink: “Sprite”

Favorite food: “Tacos”

Favorite class: “Sociology”

Favorite sports team: “Manchester City”

Favorite athlete: “Lionel Messi”

Role model: “My parents (Mareya Leon and Ivan Pendav)”

Best advice: “Once you put your mind to something, anything is possible. Just keep chasing what you believe you can do.”

Athletics goal: “Going to college to be be able to play at an NAIA, D-I, D-II or D-III school.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Paris, just because I feel like it’s a very beautiful place. I would just like to see how beautiful another country can be.”

Lily Roll

Roll scored a goal in a 3-2 loss to Rushville and recorded a hat trick with three goals Thursday to lead the Jets to a 5-2 win against Christel House Academy.

Her performance last week: “I think I played good with through-balls. My defense helped a lot, and I could get behind the defense.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually work on my footwork at home a little bit before games and listen to pregame music to get me hyped up.”

Favorite drink: “Alani”

Favorite food: “Fried rice”

Favorite class: “Ceramics”

Favorite sports team: “Purtugal soccer national team”

Favorite athlete: “Cristiano Ronaldo. I wear No. 7 for a reason.”

Role model: “I look up to my coach (Kristy) Madden, my assistant coach (Jess) Pendleton and my old coach, coach (Barry) Grimes.”

Best advice: “Always work hard, and don’t give up and have a strong mental attitude.’’

If you could travel anywhere: “Ecuador, because my best friend lives there, and I’ve never been there, so I want to go.”
