Scaring up some Halloween haunts

We’ve scared up a few Halloween-oriented options in south-central Indiana for you during the month for a little fright-night fun.

  • When Darkness Falls, Cera Sports Park and Campground, 3989 S. County Road 525E, Columbus. Haunted trail through the woods every Friday and Saturday in October, 8 to 11 p.m. $15 per ticket, with no lights Blackout Nights this Friday and Nov. 2. $25 per person.
  • Sammy’s Ghost House, for children at Cera Sports Park and Campground, 3989 S. County Road 525E, Columbus. Held 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. $5 per ticket.
  • The Haunting at Shireman Homestead, 7060 W. County Road 200N a few miles west of Columbus. Cheryl Moore has built a reputation for mixing fear and fun, with everything through the years ranging from a headless horseman to children’s activities to a petting zoo.   • kidscommons Haunted Museum, 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 27, 309 Washington St. in downtown Columbus. Here’s the message at kidscommons.org: “Enter through the secret door and try to escape the Other World. The night will include button eyes, jumping mice, mango smoothies and slugs, and much, much more!” Sound like fun? Ages 4 and older. $18 Member Child/$9 Member Adult. $24 General Admission Child/$12 General Admission Adult.
  • The Graveyard Stompers concert, 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at The Crump Theatre, 425 Third St. in downtown Columbus. The band for just this time of year when “The Monster Mash” is just not enough for your Halloween bash. Featuring costumes and more.   • Haunted History: Downtown’s Paranormal Past Tour, 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 1 at seven locations in downtown Columbus as part of a self-guided tour coordinated by the Bartholomew County Historical Society.
