Jets run to MHC title

GREENSBURG — Nolan Dailey won the Mid-Hoosier Conference cross-country boys race Saturday to lead Hauser to the team title.

The Jets finished with 28 points to 44 for runner-up Waldron, 68 for North Decatur and 86 for Morristown.

Dailey ran 16 minutes, 52.49 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Mason Moore took fourth in 18:16.52, while Max Moore was fifth (18:20.89), Koleson Gernentz sixth (18:38.68), Braydon McFarland 13th (19:21.22), Grady Niccum 16th (19:51.56), Mason Johnson 17th (20:40.07) and Lukas Christian 24th (22:30.80).

South Decatur had three runners. Nicholas Hunter finished 12th in 19:02.73, while Luke Poling took 32nd in 27:09.57 and Josh Chastain was 33rd in 28:16.97.

Edinburgh’s lone entrant, Julian Espino, finished 28th in 24:20.93.

In the girls race, only two teams had enough runners to score. North Decatur won with 16 points to 41 for South Decatur.

Summer Masters led the Cougars with a 10th-place finish in 25:54.34. Kate Schoettmer took 12th in 26:39.50, while Andrea Brogan was 13th (26:43.62), Kenzie Stone 16th (27:29.99), Bri Benefiel 18th (27:29.03) and Brooklyn Ortman 22nd (30:25.61).

Edinburgh’s Emilee Cox finished 25th in 31:19.93.
