Columbus North High School’s boys and girls track teams beat the Olympians with 24-35 and 15-50 victories. Craig Dismore led the boys team and Kara Nowak lead the girls.

Jon Carlson, staff photographer for The Republic, won first and second place in the Inland Daily Press Association’s 34th annual News Picture Contest. He placed in the “feature” class for newspapers with a circulation of more than 15,000.
