College sports notebook: Huffman scores two TDs in Hanover win

HANOVER — Blake Huffman carried seven times for 38 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to help lead Hanover to a 37-16 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win against Rose-Hulman.

Huffman, a senior from Columbus North, also had one catch for 16 yards for the Panthers (2-3, 1-1).

Malachi Parks, a senior from Columbus East, completed his only pass attempt for seven yards and carried four times for 22 yards.

JACKSON, Miss. — Tyler Blythe carried four times for 13 yards Saturday in Centre’s a 24-20 Southern Athletic Association win at Millsaps.

INDIANAPOLIS — Jaxson Scruggs recorded four tackles Saturday in Marian’s 77-21 loss to Indiana Wesleyan.

Scruggs, a redshirt sophomore from Columbus North, is in his first year at Marian after transferring from Indiana Wesleyan.

Gilley leads Sycamores with 2 aces

Cadence Gilley led Indiana State with two aces Friday in a three-set Missouri Valley Conference loss at Illinois State.

Chloe Gilley, a freshman from Columbus East, had four digs. Cadence Gilley, a junior from East, added two digs.

On Saturday, Chloe Gilley had two digs in a three-set MVC loss at Bradley for the Sycamores (3-15, 0-6).

Bennett helps Knights split pair

INDIANAPOLIS — Sarah Bennett recorded eight kills, and three blocks Wednesday in Marian’s five-set Crossroads League loss to Spring Arbor.

Bennett, a junior from Columbus North, led the Knights (16-5, 7-5) with three blocks and added two kills in Saturday’s three-set Crossroads win against Saint Francis.

Clark notches 10 digs in defeat

BETHANY, W.Va. — Andie Clark recorded 10 digs Wednesday in Bethany’s five-set loss to Grove City in the Presidents Athletic Conference opener.

Davis ties for 27th in Wabash invite

INDIANAPOLIS — Willy Davis led DePauw’s men’s golf “B” team to a 12th-place finish in the Wabash Invitational.

Davis, a sophomore from Columbus North, carded rounds of 76, 78 and 75 at Broadmoor Country Club to tie for 27th individually with a 229. He would have been the No. 2 scorer on the Tigers’ “A” team, which finished sixth as a team.
