Crimson Pride play intrasquad scrimmage

IUC Columbus played a men’s basketball intrasquad scrimmage Saturday evening at Nexus Park in preparation for its inaugural season.

The squad was split into two teams for the first half, and the Red led the Black 58-51. The starters and top subs then played on the Black team the second half, and they rallied for a 106-100 victory.

Owen Law, a sophomore from Jennings County who played tennis at IU Southeast last year, was the game’s top scorer with 23 points. Xavier Highbaugh scored 17, and Gavin Dowling added 15 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

Joey Ross finished with 14 points, Chase Ridao scored 13, Deante Luster and LaRenzo Hopkins each had 11 and Mile Ivezic had 10.

The Crimson Pride open the season at 5 p.m. Oct. 29 against Saint Francis at Nexus Park.
