Glyn-Jones, North girls win regional; Bull Dog boys team, Hauser, JC individuals also advance to state

EVANSVILLE — Carys Glyn-Jones won the girls race to lead Columbus North to the Evansville Mater Dei Regional title Saturday at Angel Mounds.

The Bull Dog boys, led by a third-place finish from Neal White, finished third as a team. Jennings County edged Columbus East 484-487 for 20th and 21st, with the Panthers’ Kraedyn Young qualifying for state as an individual. Hauser’s Nolan Dailey also made it as an individual.

The Columbus North girls scored 49 points to easily outdistance runner-up Bloomington South’s 82. Floyd Central (109), Jasper (138) and Bloomington North (157) also qualified for State.

Glyn Jones ran 18 minutes, 17.5 seconds to capture the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) race and lead the Bull Dogs. Kyleigh Wolf and Tristan Works took eighth and ninth in 18:47.5 and 18:52.7, while Emma Lowther was 18th (19:31.8), Macy Eaton 20th (19:34.4), Rendy Zhong 24th (19:36.9) and Adira Sluder 29th (19:42.8).

Jennings County’s girls finished 23rd with 602 points. Alana Watts took 123rd in 22:15.3, while Shelby Allen was 134th (22:25.6), Haley Vogel was 180th (23:21.5), Izabella Miller 198th (23:56.9), Avery Willhite 217th (24:32.5), Addy Herche 227th (25:40.1) and Isla Stevens 237th (27:03.5).

Brown County’s Sadie Hiatt finished 145th in 22:36.3, and Nora Mofield took 208th in 24:16.9. Trinity Lutheran’s Cheyenne Campbell was 151st in 22:42.3.

Columbus East’s Madison Swartzenbruber finished 154th in 22:45.2, while Ainslee Shaw took 163rd in 22:57.2.

In the boys meet, Bloomington North won with 51 points to 58 for Evansville Reitz and 82 for Columbus North. Edgewood (164) and Floyd Central (196) also qualified for state.

Neal White

White ran 15:18.0 to lead the Bull Dogs. Jace Works finished eighth in 15:33.0, while Denton Sluder was 15th (15:44.7), Jonny Klaus 27th (16:01.1), Draven Martinez 29th (16:05.0), Justin Reckers 34th (16:10.1) and Logan Vanzant 50th (16:40.5).

Norman Dickson led East with a 95th-place finish in 17:24.1. Jackson Brookes took 98th in 17:28.7, while Austin Menefee was 123rd (17:53.2), Elijah Clore 124th (17:54.8), Chance Knapp 146th (18:06.2), Lorren Westerfeld 187th (18:38.5) and Maddox Hult 209th (19:05.1).

Young finished seventh in 15:30.5 to lead Jennings. Cash Summers took 117th in 17:45.0, while Max Rodriguez was 133rd (17:58.9), Brock Maschino 169th (18:26.0), Zachary Wahlman 197th (18:47.0), Eli Lucas 215th (19:12.9) and Dawson Leak 243rd (21:17.1).

Dailey finished 37th in 16:20.4, while Koleson Gerentz took 104th in 17:35.5, Max Moore 173rd (18:27.4) and Mason Moore 217th (19:14.5) for Hauser.

Brown County’s Kai Koester finished 147th in 18:06.2. Trinity’s Oliver Eggersman was 157th in 18:16.2.
