Prep sports notebook: Locals named XC Academic All-State, soccer All-District

Several local cross-country runners have been named to the this year’s Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Academic All-State team.

Columbus North’s Cole Stevens and Neal White were named to the boys Academic All-State squad. The Bull Dogs’ Macy Eaton and Columbus East’s Eleanor Dickson were named to the girls Academic All-State team.

North’s Drew Jacobi, Jonny Klaus, Ben Psota, Eli Psota, Jace Works and Eli Wrightsman and the East’s Lorren Westerfield were named boys honorable mention. North’s Katie Frazier, Emma Glyn-Jones and Kyleigh Wolf and East’s Gabie Wheeldon were selected girls honorable mention.

Bull Dogs, Olympian named All-District

One boys and one girls soccer player from Columbus North have been named to this year’s All-District 4 teams.

North senior Sam Brown is on the boys All-District team, and junior Allison Kolhouse made the girls All-District squad. North senior Konnor Gribbins are on the boys second team, while North senior Rachel Merritt and Columbus East junior Sophie Glick made the girls second team.

Bull Dogs, Panther make All-District

The Columbus North boys tennis team was well represented in the district postseason awards.

Bull Dog seniors Hank Lin and Parth Shah were named All-District 8 in singles, and Yoki Murabayashi and Vince Sasse, along with Michael Crossman and Sashu Sabapathy were All-District 8 in doubles.

Jennings County senior Parker Bales also made All-District 8 in singles.

Jets selected All-MHC

Hauser’s Camden Grimes and Kolton Wallace have been named All-Mid-Hoosier Conference in boys soccer.

The Jets finished the season 4-9-2.

Football returns Friday

After the Columbus North and Columbus East teams had a bye week last week, both teams will have their first sectional games on Friday.

The Bull Dogs will host Franklin Central, and the Olympians will host Franklin. Both games will have a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Girls hoops season starts next week

It’s just over a week until the girls basketball season begins.

Columbus East begins its season Nov. 5 at Purdue Poly Englewood. Hauser opens Nov. 8 at Edinburgh. Columbus North starts Nov. 9 at Franklin.
