Leo Portaluppi opened a temporary Chevrolet of Columbus on North National Road in partnership with General Motors. The Texas native planned to open up a permanent dealership west of Columbus in the coming months.

1999

Students from Schmitt Elementary School were offering “Halloween Insurance” by cleaning up messes left by vandals on Halloween. For $3, homeowners would receive a signed certificate entitling them to “one free cleaning of Halloween pranksters.”

1974

Jay Louder and Maurice Lankford won first place trophies during the annual two-session Columbus Duplicate Bridge Club tournament at the Surrey Inn and Otter Creek clubhouse. Robert Aungst and Margaret Marko won second and Bill Hotz and Denny Clerkin won third.
