Columbus City Utilities has named Travis Calhoun as Associate Director of Treatment Operations. Calhoun was hired at the utilities in 2012 in the water distribution department and then transferred to the wastewater treatment plant in 2013. He has held various positions at the plant including plant operator, maintenance operator, and for the past two years he has served as superintendent of the wastewater plant and managed the daily operations.
He is a member of the Water Environment Federation and the Indiana Water Environment Federation. He has participated for several years on the Utilities’ Wastewater Challenge team at the Indiana Water Environment Federation conference and also the Water Environment Federation conference. He is also active in the Southern Indiana Operator’s Association.
In his new role, Calhoun will oversee operations at the wastewater plant, the water plant, the Quality Control Laboratory and the Pretreatment Program.
Chris Murray has been selected to fill the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent replacing Calhoun. Murray was hired at the utilities in 1999. He worked a few years in the water distribution department but has spent most of his time at the wastewater plant where he worked in maintenance and also as a plant operator.
He is a member of the Water Environment Federation and the Indiana Water Environment Federation. He has participated for several years on the Utilities’ Wastewater Challenge team at the Indiana Water Environment Federation conference and also the Water Environment Federation conference.
