Javier Caraballo doesn’t want audiences to listen to the music of his band, Juvenato. To be more specific, he wants them ideally to dance the music.

* Pavel Polanco-Safadit’s exuberant energy seems hard to contain. He dances behind his keyboard, sometimes plays a tune’s segment with his feet, and generally lets his Latin jazz and salsa move him every which way. Doubters can see for themselves at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the final JazzIN Columbus series free concert at Ovation Plaza (with the colorful Ovation Technology Group artwork) on the east end of Fourth Street in downtown Columbus. Pavel & Direct Contact, which sold out a show May 31 at the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic’s Jazz at Helen’s series, will perform for 90 minutes as part of the summer schedule sponsored by the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation and The Columbus Museum of Art & Design, with support from the Office of Downtown Development.

Reeve Carney’s vocals of his youngest years of singing superbly lent themselves to a higher octave range.
