Senior Days are usually tough enough emotionally, but Columbus North’s boys soccer Senior Day on Saturday yielded even more emotion.

For Columbus North girls soccer, an 11-game shutout streak has been about more than just the goalkeepers and defenders.

VERNON — Kraedyn Young won the boys race Saturday to lead host Jennings County to the team title in its Ray Gerkin Invitational.

WALDRON — Hauser’s Jentzen Bechtel and Joel Bechtel finished runner-up at No. 1 doubles in the Mid-Hoosier Conference Individual boys tennis tournament to earn All-Conference honors.

MADISON — The Jennings County girls golfers finished fourth in Saturday’s Madison Sectional, missing a regional qualifying spot by only four shots.

NEW ALBANY — Playing its seventh game in 12 days and its fourth game of the week, Columbus East dropped an 8-0 Hoosier Hills Conference girls soccer decision at New Albany on Saturday.

IU Columbus trailed only 1-0 at halftime Saturday, but Georgetown (Kentucky) pulled away for a 5-0 men’s soccer victory at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County came away with a 3-0 girls soccer loss against Batesville on Saturday.

WHITELAND — Jennings County went 0-3 at Saturday’s Whiteland Invitational, falling to University and Peru by 4-1 scores and to Whiteland 5-0.
